As the second installment of the CONTINUUM 1991 – 1998 white label series, FUTURE9394 revisits the years of 1993 – 1994 when the great schism within the techno scene became evident. DJ’s focused on individual sub genres exclusively, while raves and club nights started to play single genres only.
Deliberately disregarding this divide, FUTURE9394 presents a great stylistic diversity, ranging from the ultra-complex PSYKKOWARPZ, a rave-monster of a tune with a monumental break towards the end, to the distorted techno-stomper BTCHZ, reminiscent of the ghetto-house movement, with it’s use of a prominent vocal sample.
On the B-side FUTURE9394 gives us COZMIKK – a bare boned spin on trance, guaranteed to hypnotize the crowd for 7 minutes, followed by OCTAV99, a totally overdosed noise-fest.
