Uaimh na gCat are Ciarán Mac an Bháird and Rónán Ó Deaghaidh. Having met through Ireland’s rich pre-covid techno and party scene and sharing common musical and cultural interests, they endeavored in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to move to Berlin to share these common interests through the music they loved. There along with additional collaborator Stephen Tubridy they developed a sound which reflected these ideas. The result is Uaimh na gCat (UNG001), an eclectic mix of genres from dark and deep hypnotic techno to prodigy adjacent sounds, blending metal and pagan and traditional Irish music influences seamlessly. “Spooky cave music for summoning deities” as the lads put it themselves.

Our mission statement
Everyone has an intrinsic sense of rhythm. A primal instinct ingrained in us from our first heartbeat.

We have listened and danced to the beat of a drum for thousands of years and in the past forty years we have been blessed to live in a time where rhythm has evolved to move us like never before.

We started this project with the intention of creating and sharing the music that we love. Searching for a suitable conduit to channel our ideas and being from Ireland and holding a deep respect for her beauty, ancient language and indeed wider culture and history we turned to the rich folklore which had graciously been preserved.

There we settled upon Uaimh na gCat, a cave located under one of the five ancient regal sites of Ireland, a place that is said to be a gateway to the Otherworld and home to the Mórrígan, a goddess of faith. A place where the rules and norms that separate the mortal world from the spiritual are blurred. This place and the lore that surrounded it would be the perfect channel to share our ideas.

After all, techno which resonates with you will take you to a therapeutic and introspective place, get you to exercise and release negative thoughts and emotions, to question fate and to pose the question, what am I doing tomorrow?
